The increasingly common belief that bigger is better can be observed by visiting almost any restaurant, and you’ll see your evidence. Both fast food restaurants, and upscale dining establishments stack food high on their customers’ plates and also passionately encourage their customers to upsize their drinks and fries.

Many websites have taken the “bigger is better” theory to heart, too. Good example of superstores like Overstock discount store.com and large discount shopping centers like Wal-mart have websites consisting of thousands upon thousands of terrific pages. As a consequence they are doing very well for themselves.

I hope you will agree with me when I say there are so many large sites online, and it might appear futile to try and get your piece of the pie. The ordinary person doesn’t have the cash or time to set up such a complicated operation, let alone try to maintain a huge site like that. Then again you don’t have to. A mini web site can do well in a landscape of Internet big boys, mini web site .

One of the reason mini sites work is because they do not directly compete with the large online sites. A niche mini site simply seeks to do well in a small niche market by marketing a product or service to only a small portion of a select group or market sector, instead of trying to be all things to all individuals. In this atmosphere, in a sense, smaller is much, much better.

A good number of profitable mini sites go after a small but not sufficiently served niche. They find a need that isn’t being filled, and they fill it. This puts them into a position to get better rankings in the search engines, “A search engine, such as Google! Or Yahoo is an online software tool that helps users of the internet find the information and sites they’re looking for. A search engine user enters a word or phrase into a search box, and the search tool displays results that are normally organized in order of relevance” and because the keywords that individuals use to find their offerings are not often targeted by webmasters of larger sites. With some good SEO, (SEO is the attempt to modify something about your Web site to improve the quality of your ranking within the big search engines), they can get targeted traffic at very little expense.

Hopefully, the sales letter grabs their attention once the visitors are at your mini site, and, influence them to make a purchase. Those who are on the fence may sign up for a newsletter or free course. Like to maintain a friendly relationship, this provides the opportunity to maintain contact and persuade them to buy now or later on.

A minisite can do well on its own, even if millions of other web pages are online. You just need a good niche service or a product that occupies a particular area of demand, a quality product and a strong sales pitch that will resolve your shopper difficulty.
